THICKENER FOR TEXTILE PRINTING

PH - 50

PRODUCT PROFILE

PH - 50 is thickening agent especially suitable for the Textile Industry extracted from the endosperm of the seed of the guar plant (Cyamopsis Tetragonolobus) and modified. It is fine yellow coloured powder with additives specially suitable for continuous / random dyeing of carpets and for space printing of yarn.

(1 % Solution after acidification) : Cold viscosity 2 hrs  5000±200 cps
(by Brookfield, 20 RPM 25°C)                      24hrs  5000±200 cps

ADVANTAGES

PH-50 disperses easily without lumps at neutral or alkaline pH without the use of educator funnel or other auxiliary dissolving equipments. A stock slurry of PH-50  upto a concentration of 12% can be prepared easily which remains pourable at least for 1 hour.

The viscosity potential for this grade is activated by addition of any available acidic material to drop the pH below 7.

PH-50 hydrates rapidly at acidic pH to yield a high viscosity thickener.

PH-50 thickener. provides following advantages.

  • Easily dispersed without gumballing and capability of being pre-slurried with water at high concentrations.

  • Viscosity development delayed until acid is added

  • Rapid viscosity development after acidification

  • High viscosity at low solids concentration

  • Viscosity stability under high shear

  • Compatibility with dye systems that do not tolerate calcium

  • Excellent colour yield and washout

PH-50 Special is compatible with most chemicals used in printing of formulations at acidic pH. However, reintroduction of alkaline conditions in print paste will cause gelling.

PREPARATION OF STOCK PASTE

PH -50 specially disperse easily in cold water at pH above 7. A stock paste can be prepared at concentration upto 24g./liter and usually 5-10min. are necessary to ensure full dispersion of the gum which can be added to the water as rapidly as desired, acidification can be done with Citric, Acetic, formic acid to drop the pH below 7.0.Usually 0.5 to 1.0 g/l of acid is sufficient. When the pH is reduced to below 7 a colour change may be needed. Stock thickener should be stored in a cool, clean environment.

USE

PH -50 can be used in Continuous Dyeing , Random Dyeing and Printing of tufted carpet using Acid, permetallized Acid, Dispersed, direct, Basic & Nickel Chelating dispersed colours.
